ahhhhhhh.....

ahhhh, that's me screaming silently...it's seems with parenting you start to get it and then everything goes out the window. I have worked soo, soo hard to get Joshua on a good eating and sleeping schedule and then tonight for some reason he has decided not to go to sleep. He was put in bed two hours ago and he is still awake!!! I can't remember the last time something like this happened. Anyway, that's my rant.. got it out..i feel a bit better now.

Sleep..What's that?

I have a confession to make, my son is 11 months old today and still doesn't sleep through the night. But last night, there was finally a break through of sorts...yay. I should say that Joshua did sleep through the night from about 6 weeks, until around 4 months, and then he went backwards, waaay backwards..where some nights he wakes up every couple of hours and most nights he doesn't sleep in more than four hour blocks. I went from feeling pretty rested, for a new mom, to being sleep deprived, although I think my body has now grown accustomed to only about 5 or 6 hours a night, as i don't really feel the lack of sleep anymore. Anyway, back to the breakthrough. Last night he slept from 7 until 11:30 (usually he wakes up at least twice, during this time) and I fed him and then he slept until 4 (used to be 3), stood up and cried, I put him down, walked away and....drum roll... for the first time ever he stayed down and went right back to sleep. I couldn't believe it. I was in shock. It seriously was a miracle of sorts (usually it takes at least 15 minutes of him standing, then me putting him down before he settles again). It must have been all the praying we did over him the day before, so here's hoping, and praying that tonight he won't even wake at 4.

Blue like Jazz

I am reading a great book. I highly recommend it; it is called Blue like Jazz. It is an incredibly honest account of the author's faith and it echoes many of my own thoughts and sentiments, especially about how self centered we tend to be. I don't know about you, but I know that i mostly think about me, me, me. I'm a toddler in an adult's body.
I also found his discussion about the title Christian to be fresh too. He talks about how many people have bad associations with the title, which is why he tends to talk about christian spirituality, rather than Chritianity. Anyway, if you can you should read it and if you do read it, i would love to hear your thoughts on it.

first steps

I thought it appropriate that the same week my son is attempting his first steps, that I am also taking my first steps into the world of the blogger. I've always really enjoyed reading other people's blogs, but never really considered doing one of my own, until lately, as I have found that I am increasingly losing touch with friends and I find that really sad, being the kind of person who likes to keep friends forever, even though that's not always possible. So in an attempt to reconnect, or bridge the gap, I am turning to this blog to document my life and hoping in return to hear from you.
