This child does not want to come. I have to say that I am quite surprised that I have gone this far past my due date. Last time I was 2 days early, so I really didn't expect to still be waiting for this child to come. Yesterday, I thought that it was on the way, but turned out I was wrong.
Ken is coming out this weekend, so I'm praying that the baby will come while he is out here, otherwise he won't see the baby until it's almost a month old.
So here I am still waiting and hoping that this baby will come soon!

Waiting
It seems like all I'm doing right now is waiting. Waiting for Ken to finish school--boy does it seem to be taking forever--and waiting for this baby to come. I will say I'm getting a little impatient. I wish this baby would hurry up and come. My due date is next monday, the 24th, but i am so done with being pregnant. I wish the days would go a little faster, not only b/c I can't wait to meet this baby, but also because I can't wait for Ken to be done and to be back home with us. I never thought that it would be so hard having Ken away. I don't know how army wives do it.
So here I sit waiting....
So here I sit waiting....

The last four weeks
So, it's been a crazy, busy, hectic month to say the least, what with packing and moving and trying to fit in some family vacations before Ken's departure.
Here is our last month, in pictures. Not in the right order though, thanks to Blogger.

Ken and I went away, by ourselves, to Harrison Hot Springs for a couple of days. It was wonderful. This is the view from the balcony. We also had a nice view of the gardens from the window. We got a complimentary upgrade, which was wonderful, b/c their older rooms aren't all that nice. I have to say, I love it here. It's just lovely and relaxing. The only downfall is that there aren't any really cheap places to eat. Although, the buffet breakfast was included in our package, so that helped and it was really good too.

Camping! Here's Joshua pumping up the air mattress, which sometime between then and bedtime developed a tear, so deflated and we ended up sleeping on the rocks. Oh the joy. Thankfully one of the other couples we went with, who was only staying one night, left theirs with us, so the second night was a lot better.
Victoria, in front of the parliment buildings. We had a lovely weekend, staying with friends of Ken's who moved out there a while ago.

Joshua and friend playing in the sand. As you can tell from the clothes they are wearing, it wasn't really a beach day. But we all had a lot of fun anyway. It was a really neat beach. We found some sea enemies (sp?) and they kept Joshua fascinated for a good 1/2 hour.

So, here are our new digs. I couldn't believe all the stuff we had to bring along. But we managed to fit everything into our room. Things have been going really well so far at the in-laws. Joshua loves seeing his cousins all the time. It's funny how they get so excited to see each other and then 10 minutes later they are fighting like cats and dogs over some toy. But he does miss his Daddy, as do I, and keeps asking when he's coming back on the big plane.
Cleaning: a whole day affair, who would've thought. That's what happens when you are a bit too obsessive about having every inch sparkling clean. Good heavens, if I ever have to move out of a house, it might take a week to clean it:)
All our furniture when into storage. We decided to go with containers, which was great, because they delievered them right to our door. We packed it up. They took them away. No back and forth with a van or truck. And then when we know where we are going to be in six months, we just call them up and they deliver it right to our front door to unload. Let me tell you it was worth the money.
So that's the last month, crazy, yet loads of fun. And now that Ken is gone, reality has started to set in. We miss him a lot, but it helps to be surrounded by family. Although six months kind of feels like 10 years to me right now. But hopefully, we can fly out to see him in a couple of weeks, before I get too pregnant:)

Value Village
I actually had the car today, which is a very rare event. So, I thought hmmm maybe I should go check out some second hand stores, since i'm looking for a sit and stand stroller. There's a really cute little second hand store that I discovered a while back, but when I arrived it hadn't opened yet, so to kill time we went to check out Value Village, since it was close. And let me tell you Value Village is not a good deal for second hand clothes. I was looking at some of the infant girl stuff, because my niece just turned one and I thought maybe I could find something cute there. And it was not what I would consider cheap. I think the outfits ranged from 5$ to 8$ or so. So you might be thinking well it's a lot cheaper than buying it new, although I have bought new kids clothes on sale for around that price. But consider this when I went back to the first place, now open, and looked there I found beautiful outfits for 2$. How can you beat that. And since I love girls clothes, I couldn't resist buying a whole wack of outfits for my niece. My sister-in-law will probably be estactic. It's great that she doesn't care if something is new or not, b/c you sure can get a whole lot more with those kind of prices. Oh, and I also found some cute maternity pants for around 8$. which was great because within a matter of weeks the two pairs of pants I can still wear sprouted holes in the knee. But no stroller :(
So the moral of the story. if you are looking for a deal, don't shop at Value Village.

So Cute..
Okay, so mother's day...i know, i know, a little late on the post with this one-- we were at Ken's parents' place. Ken had given his mom a nail set; it makes your nails look all nice and shiny. So, he showed his mom how it worked (the lady selling it in the mall had given him directions). All the while Joshua is watching so intently, just fasinated with the process. Ken finishes showing his mom and Joshua decides to take over for him. It was priceless, and of course we forgot to grab the camera. He was concentrating so hard on following all the steps. First buffer (not sure what it's called:) ). The rough side then the smooth side. Then a drop of oil, rubbing it in just so. Then he got out the file, which he tried to first use on his grandma's finger, ouch! I just couldn't get over how focused he was on his task. Maybe a future manacurist:)!!! Hey, boys can do it too can't they?

change
I have a bit of a hate/love affair with change. I love the idea of it, until it actually happens and then I hate it. I remember when I was 11 and my parents told us we would be moving to Canada for a couple of years, which obviously turned out to be more than a couple of years. At first I was so excited, envisioning all the wonderful new things in store for me in Canada. Then the day approached and excitment turned to tears at the thought of having to leave what I knew and loved behind.
Well, once again I am being faced with change. We just found out that Ken got accepted into the RCMP training program. This means that in about six weeks he will be gone for six months to Regina, Saskatchewan. This also means that I will be moving in with my in-laws for that six months, as although they do give him some money while he's there, it's not enough to cover all our expenses. It also means that he may miss the birth of our second child, although I'm going to be praying really hard that I go into labour on a weekend he is out visiting. I have also realized how much I'm going to miss the rhythmn of my life out here. Even though for the first couple of years, I did not want to be here, I have become completly contented with my life here. I'm am also a little unsure as to what it will be like living with my in-laws (my parents, unfortunately, don't have enough room for us all)! I will very much miss having my own place. But am very grateful for my in-laws generous offer. So, now that the reality of change has come, I am no longer so excited about it and yes a little sad to leave everything I have come to know behind. Yet, I'm sure once I get more used to the idea, I will get excited once again for what God will do with our little family this year.

First visit to the Dentist
So Joshua had his first visit to the Dentist and it went really well. I, unfortunatly, missed the event b/c I had to look after my daycare kid, so Ken took him.
I guess all the prep work paid off b/c he wasn't scared and did everything they asked him to do. Ken said he kept his mouth w i d e open the whole time. I laughed when he told me that. Joshua was very proud of his new toothbrush too. Now he has three, believe it or not. My dentist gave him one too, when he came to watch me get my teeth done, which was no fun by the way. I think the Hygenist I had came from the more pain is good school of thought. I don't think I've ever had such a painful cleaning before. Anyway back to Joshua, what's really cute now is that when he prays at meal times he says, "thank you for the Dentist and the dentist hygenist." Funny kid.
Here are some pictures from his visit. don't you love the cool sunglasses:)
